Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE: This position will performing credit related functions in accordance with Badgerland standards, policies and procedures. Under the direction of the Departments Lenders, the incumbent will gather  financial information, spread historic financial data, calculate ratios, provide analysis of credit risk,  analysis of risk adjusted return, monitor existing  credit in the portfolio,  and organize legal documents.   The incumbent will undertake special projects as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: This is a position requiring a bachelor degree in agricultural business, finance, accounting or a related field. A minimum of three years experience analyzing capital markets or five years experience with commercial lending is required. Having the ability to perform daily duties following established procedures with a minimum level of direct supervision is also required. The incumbent must possess strong organizational and analytical skills to perform multiple tasks. Solid verbal and written communication skills are essential. The incumbent must also have skill in compute software applications, preferably with Microsoft applications.

DIMENSION: This position has no direct reports. This position reports to the Team Leader/VP of Capital Markets and will work at the direction of the Departments Lenders. This position is located in the Madison branch office. The incumbent provides input in established goals, objectives, and procedures which contribute to the quality, timeliness and profitability of products and services. The incumbent must work closely with other team members and outside organizations.

 MAJOR CHALLENGES: The incumbent will support the department to deliver quality and timely service to internal and external customers.  Incumbent will develop a firm understanding of Badgerland Credit Underwriting policies and Farm Credit Administration (FCA) regulations.   The incumbent must have ability to work on several projects at one time and to meet deadlines. The incumbent will work closely with the departments Lenders to provide excellent assessment of credit risk and return.


DECISION MAKING: The incumbent will provide support and recommendations on department activities including extension of credit, loan service actions, and general portfolio management. The incumbent will be involved in the ongoing design of loan analysis processes. The incumbent will be challenged to maintain workload priorities to meet customer expectations in a fast-paced multiple task environment. >Under varying degrees of supervision, the incumbent will conduct business on a regular basis with customers and prospects and is expected to exercise discretion in determining the appropriate course of action in all transactions. For all loans, the determination of extending credit will be made primarily by assigned authority levels via Badgerland’s credit approval policy.

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CONTACTS: Internal contacts are varied within the organization and include the capital markets team, account and support services personnel to clarify and verify information, as well as providing an additional level of customer service as needed. External contacts are present and prospective customers, AgriBank staff and management, related agribusiness organizations, attorneys, related financial services professionals and community and business leaders. In all contacts, the incumbent is expected to present a professional image.



Credit Analysis, Monitoring and Reporting: Performs credit analysis utilizing complex financial statements and calculation ratios including but not limited to CDRC, Leverage Ratio, Solvency Ratio, Liquidity Ratio, etc. Retrieve and organize financial information as provided by lead lenders, provided appropriate due diligence to verify financial data, monitor loan covenant compliance, and to monitor borrowing base compliance. Document and report on non-compliance issues to the Lending Officer(s). Assist in the preparation of credit reports utilizing Microsoft products. (60%)


General Administration:  Review/ approve credit/legal documents. Maintain organized filing system. Provide follow-up with participating banks for missing documents using the loan closing checklist. Send loan collateral certification documents to AgriBank and follow-up on exceptions. Provide direct support to VP of Capital Markets. (30%)


Customer Relations: Serves as primary contact person for loan accounting and commercial banking in regard to current rates, rate locks and loan participation closing documentation. Incumbent to be responsible for completing loan transmittal forms, committing interest rates, monitoring collection of fees and general follow up. (10%)
