Job Description

Provide detailed analysis, design, tuning, testing, implementation and documentation of business application databases to support a network environment of clients interfacing with mainframe, Intranet/Internet and PC based applications.  Works with business team members to further enhance environment to meet operational objectives of the Association.  Collaboratively supports other business technology team members to help design, develop, and implement applications. Manages key department reporting database applications and data warehouses.  Acts as the business-side technical liaison for IT issues.  Presents to all management levels to coordinate certain department functions or projects.




  1. Provides technical and systems design expertise in the development of new and the maintenance of exiting databases.  Is proactive in providing suggestions in regards to product development, new services, technologies or enhancements which will assist the end user in improving overall service to our customers. Creates and maintains database standards and policies.
  2. Creates BI/Data Warehousing cube design and ETL Processes.
  3. Responsible for data warehouse design, development, testing, support and configuration. Responsible for documenting and updating procedures for change management.
  4. Coordinate new data warehouse development, ensuring consistency and integration with existing warehouse structure.
  5. Review business requests for data warehouse data and data warehouse usage, researches data sources for new and better data feeds.
  6. Must maintain strict quality control over data analysis and information delivery in a fast paced environment.
  7. Assist in continuous improvement efforts in enhancing performance and providing increased functionality and supporting production systems based on business requirements.
  8. Administers key department reporting database applications. Develops reporting from multiple internal and external data sources to support.
  9. Works with developers to implement the logical database design in the physical environment..
  10. Coordinates the development, tuning and modification of stored procedures.
  11. Test, install and deploy all databases and stored procedures to production servers.
  12. Manage database security – application and user logins.
  13. Create SSIS/DTS ETL packages.
  14. Performance tuning – Assists developers in analyzing application architecture and application code; performs tuning at the query and index level, file structure and organization.
  15. Work in a cross-functional and team-oriented environment is a necessity.
  16. Develops analytical projects that economically and concisely address departmental needs.
  17. Performs other responsibilities as designed.



Education and Experience

Associate's degree in computer science, business or related field, and minimum three years relevant work experience supporting or developing database systems.  Good project management skills, oral and written communication skills, and analytical skills necessary.

Knowledge of: SharePoint development and administration, including applicable tools like taxonomy set-up and maintenance.  InfoPath, excel services, and enterprise search. Farm Credit Mid-America processes, credit and/or loan accounting procedures. 


Skills in:   HTML, ASP, .NET, Java, CSS, XML, Visual Studio .Net, TFS, VSS, & SharePoint Designer.  Writing, training, and creating end-user documentation.  Requirements gathering and analysis with business users.  Proficient with analytical tools, including SQL, SAS and SPSS.  Required knowledge of statistical methods.
