ABOUT THE ROLE:

The AVP - IT Operations Manager position is a leadership and management position with staff supervision and is responsible for the enterprise-wide management of all daily IT Operations activities supporting the Information Technology Data Center, cloud computing, end-user computing and Network infrastructure.  This includes leading a group of highly trained staff to provide high quality, timely support to our end users as well as managing an enterprise level hardware and software environment.  The AVP IT Operations Manager will define and establish policies and procedures designed to ensure consistently high levels of IT service performance, and will manage, prioritize, coordinate workloads and efforts across teams to meet or exceed IT service delivery SLAs.  This position is accountable for the leadership and management of the IT Operations staff, data centers, end-user computing, cloud computing and network infrastructure and covers the entire life cycle from business requirements analysis, design, procurement, implementation and operational support through obsolescence planning.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Manage and lead the planning, procurement, implementation, operation, maintenance and obsolescence of the Association’s Information Technology Data Center, Cloud Computing, End-User Computing and Networking solutions. 
  2. Manage and supervise IT professionals (employees and contractors) working in the IT Operations area.  Minimum of 5 years of management/leadership experience. 
  3. Manage service provider relationships delivering data communication and other infrastructural services to the Association. Prepare RFIs, RFPs, review bid proposals, contracts, scope of work, and other documentation for projects and associated efforts.
  4. Provide management and leadership support for all hardware, and systems software planning and installation activities including equipment configuration, installations, process improvements, environment preparation, and 24 X 7 production support.  Provide management oversight to ensure release level interoperability with dependent software and hardware.
  5. Focus on risk evaluation, mitigation and analysis as well as the delivery of transparent communication, identification of continuous improvement opportunities and development of supporting tactical plans for seamless execution.  Keen understanding and ability to articulate and provide risk and operational metrics.
  6. Security expertise across all facets of IT Infrastructure.
  7. Driving projects and audit resolutions to completion in a timely fashion under budget and on-time.
  8. Manage and lead the  development and maintenance of Operations based product and service roadmaps in support of emerging business needs of the Association.
  9. Manage the team’s budget and expenditures.  Assists with the annual IT budget review process and manage to the approved IT budget throughout the year.
  10. Manage the development and maintenance of documentation including departmental policies, procedures, disaster recovery plans, and technical reports as it relates to IT Operations.
  11. Research new technologies, services, standards and recommend and implement changes where appropriate.  Attend appropriate trade expositions, conferences and training.
  12. Assist with audits and regulator exams.  Help ensure that program development for infrastructure solutions and services are in compliance with the Association’s general control objectives.  Ensure the IT Operations area is FFIEC, FCA, COBIT and ITIL compliant.  Develop, manage and implement plans to address any deficiencies in the various compliance areas.
  13. Ensure the Association’s IT Operations DR plans will meet or exceed Business Continuity objectives.
  14. Drive continuous improvement for ITSM (IT Service Management).
  15. Manage service delivery agreements and ensure they are being met.
  16. Performs other duties assigned. 

 TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) degree or higher, with emphasis on Computer Science, Management of Information Systems or equivalent.
  2. At least 5 years of continuous experience managing and leading an IT server and network infrastructure.
  3. Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.
  4. Advanced management experience with Data Center, end-user computing and networking technologies and standards.
  5. Extensive experience of Data Center and network software and Life Cycle Management including testing methods, best practices and preventive maintenance activities.
  6. Proficient in managing personnel, customer relationships, performance and finances.
  7. Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  8. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to analyze situations, respond independently, prioritize to meet deadlines, work under pressure, and be a team player while maintaining a positive attitude.
  9. High level of objectivity, tact, and diplomacy to establish and maintain effective on-going relationships between management, employees and our business partners.

Must have the ability to perform basic office tasks and sit at a desk for an extended period of time. Job requires extensive use of computers and phones. While performing the job, the employee is required to sit, crouch, kneel, crawl, reach and have the ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Ability to work with typical hardware and cabling practices required. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills to adequately convey ideas and work well with a team. Ability to talk and hear, sit and use their hands and fingers, and reach in all directions is essential in performance of the job. Must be able to interact effectively with people at all levels of company. Work during established business hours and may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
