We are looking for: Learning & Development Manager for our corporate headquarters in Santa Rosa, CA!

Learning & Development Manager will be responsible for overseeing the Association’s corporate Learning & Development function. Responsible for the design, development, coordination, implementation and maintenance of the Learning programs that enhance skills, knowledge, abilities and effectiveness of employees including management and leadership programs. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Designs, develops, facilitates and deploys training and development programs, performance support tools, job aids, training manuals, materials and related documentation.  
  2. Serves as subject-matter-expert to the business for training items. Manages special projects related to training. Partners with subject-matter experts to conduct needs analysis, design, develop, implement and evaluate training sessions and programs.  
  3. Designs, develops, facilitates and evaluates New Employee Orientation throughout the year. Distributes evaluation to executive team, and leverages feedback in development of following sessions.
  4. Selects and develops the appropriate training methods such as individual training, group instructions, self study, lectures, demonstrations, simulation exercise, role play and computer based training to maximize understanding and adoption.  
  5. Partners with Information Technology, Legal, and Risk Management departments on identifying annual compliance training courses. Collaborates with external vendors to develop and deliver training. Assigns training to new employees, and reports on completed training at year-end.
  6. Administration of Learning Management System and L&D page on company-wide intranet. Ensures videos, presentations, and related materials are appropriately formatted, edited, tagged, uploaded, and linked for easiest employee access.
  7. Participates in the design of enterprise-wide on boarding, management, leadership and high potential development program and mentorship program.  Administers leadership development programs, sales and credit training program.
  8. Partners with HR and management to create and execute individual development plans for talent across the organization. Implements best practice performance-consulting solutions. Manages the development of a career framework targeting key roles to facilitate professional growth, retention and the internal movement of talent. 
  9. Implements measurements of effectiveness and return on investment of training programs. Provides reporting and feedback.  
  10. Continuously identify opportunities for improved efficiency and effectiveness and deploy performance improvement initiatives including but not limited to on boarding new employees. 
  11. Performs other duties assigned.  

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Training, Communications or related field.  Masters degree in Organizational Development, Management or Adult Education preferred.
  2. At least six years of directly related, human resources, training, learning & development or adult education experience.  
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of instructional design, online instructional design, adult learning theory, and the performance consulting process. 
  4. Advanced Microsoft office skills including Word, Excel, Adobe, Office, PowerPoint and Outlook.  Experience with Cornerstone on Demand Human Resources Management System or other LMS. Experience with course editing software such as Lectoria, Adobe Capitviate, Articulate. 
  5. Strong presentation & public-speaking skills.
  6. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills;  critical thinking skill with the ability to analyze situations, make independent decisions, prioritize to meet deadlines, work under pressure, and be a team player.
  7. Excellent written skills are essential: must be able to write a variety of training support documentation: including training course outlines and content, participant and facilitators materials, written tests/assessments and any other documents necessary for training.
  8. Exceptional relationship-building and influencing skills.  Ability to collaborate with subject matter experts and managers in training development, delivery and modification.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

Must have the ability to perform basic office tasks and work in a typical office setting. Employee will be sitting for extended periods of time and accomplishing work at a desk and work at a computer for an extended period of time.  Must have strong written and verbal communication skills to adequately convey ideas and work well with a team.  Ability to talk and hear, sit and use their hands and fingers, and reach in all directions is essential in performance of the job. Some lifting and moving of items up to 25 pounds required. Work during established business hours and may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.  Travel required up to 25%.
