Job Description

At CoBank, our Credit Professional will analyze the current, historical, and projected financial condition and repayment capacity of our bank’s borrowers.  They also prepare clear, substantive, credit reports for loan approval in conformity with bank policies and procedures. This individual also consults with lending staff and other origination channel contacts on appropriate loan structures. This person will take a leadership role in managing the credit origination process from application through final approval, closing, booking and servicing. They will also approve or co-sponsor credits within prescribed credit limits.  In addition they will add value to account relationships and support the achievement of profitability and credit quality goals through interactions with staff and customers.

Basic Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, or relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in credit/finance, preferably in banking or financial services industry; or appropriate combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Basic to Advanced knowledge of financial analysis, including cash flow analysis, balance sheet analysis, profitability, liquidity, and solvency analysis.
  • Basic to Advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), taxation, legal forms of organizations, and business law.
  • Intermediate knowledge of financial modeling techniques and preparation of pro forma financial statements.
  • Ability to perform discounted cash flow analysis, capital budgeting (internal rate of return, net present value, etc.), and equity valuation calculations.
  • Advanced ability to use spreadsheet, word processing, and database applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, presentation, oral and written communication skills.
  • Some travel required.
