Job Title: Associate Insurance Officer
Office Location: Princeton, IL

Position Overview: The individual manages a crop insurance book of business by functioning in an inside sales role. The incumbent services existing policies and focuses on retention and cross-selling, typically interacting with clients in the office, on the farm (as needed) or via phone, mail or text. The individual collaborates with the insurance team and provides support in the following areas including: entering and processing claims, reviewing and gathering documents, scanning and filing documents, and communicating with clients.

Successful candidates provide:

  • Crop Insurance Sales and Service: Manages a crop insurance book of business by functioning in an inside sales role. Focuses on client retention and cross-selling products that benefit the client. Interacts with clients in the office, on the farm (as needed) or via phone, mail or text. Answers client crop insurance questions on applications, confirmation of coverage, acreage reports, production reports, and schedules; and collaborates with AIP underwriters and/or more experienced Insurance officers.
  • Crop Insurance Documentation: Gathers required documents for coverage including, but not limited to: processor contracts, power of attorney forms, high risk land exclusion, etc. Reviews documents for accuracy and completion, as requested. Scans completed documents into document management system and files according to document name. Enters claims into AIP system and processes claim indemnities once payment is made.
  • Claims Processing: Processes client insurance claims working with adjusters, clients, and insurance companies to reach an amiable settlement for all parties involved.
  • Product Knowledge/Expertise: Maintains a comprehensive understanding of crop insurance products available through Compeer Financial and all related FCS eligibility regulations; remain current on product details and program changes; effectively communicates the risk management strategies that can be achieved with these products that meet client needs; understands how our products compare to competitors and develop marketing plans that emphasize our strengths.

Successful candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, agriculture or related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 2-4 years related work experience with a minimum of 1 year of work experience in the crop insurance field or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of crop insurance programs and information, grain marketing, finance and macroeconomics.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles and practices and analytical skills.
  • Marketing and sales skills with ability to discover and address challenges.
  • Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with both internal and external clients.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle situations appropriately and work under pressure with tight deadlines in a team environment.
  • Strong computer skills including MS office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and AIP databases.
