Title: Director Capital Markets
Office Location: Naperville, IL or Apple Valley, MN

Position Overview: Compeer Financial is seeking a Director Capital Markets to help grow our Capital Markets portfolio. This individual will develop business in the syndicated and participated multi-lender loan portfolio by working with leading financial institutions throughout the United States. The Director Capital Markets will primarily work with infrastructure, power, telecommunications and water companies by building relationships with leading lenders on a national level. This individual supports the execution of the business and marketing plan for the capital markets team. The team is expected to build a sound, profitable loan portfolio with capital markets and related enterprises and industries.        

Successful candidates will provide:

  • Client Relationships: Works closely with clients on participations and complex financing transactions. Develops important business networks and resources that provide new ideas and useful information. Differentiates Compeer Financial as the organization that provides a wide variety of financial services and demonstrates client service that exceeds the client’s expectations.
  • Mentoring and Leadership: Serves as a mentor and leader for team members. Collaborates with the team to solve problems and meet objectives
  • Sales and Marketing: Aggressively markets credit and related services, establishing new market relationships which will contribute towards attainment of Compeer Financial goals and business objectives. Accomplishments will include sales closings, positive client relations, and recognition within the industry.
  • Industry Knowledge: Builds on his/her industry knowledge, including areas of participations and syndications. Maintains and develops a strong understanding of finance, macroeconomics, and especially competitive products and services. Understands the competition well enough to position Compeer Financial as the lender of choice. Keeps up with changing economic markets and technology in order to maintain his/her knowledge base and provide exceptional value to the client. 

Successful candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, agriculture, or related field; or equivalent work experience;
  • Ten or more years of experience in financial services, including in depth experience in the rural infrastructure field;
  • Advanced knowledge of syndicated finance and senior debt loan structuring. 
  • Strong decision making skills are required.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, client service and team skills.
  • Effective problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Effective negotiating, influencing and effective selling skills.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness are critical in this position.
  • Demonstrated ability to educate, motivate, mentor and work with team members, clients and other lending professionals.
