Position Purpose...

The purpose of this position is to assist the Vice President - Credit in maintaining sound credit administration and asset quality while supporting sustainable growth of the loan assets of the Association.  This position provides leadership and communicates Association credit direction, lending philosophy and risk management principles to FSO’s, Credit Analysts and other staff.

 

Primary Responsibilities...

  • Responsibilities include underwriting and approving credit requests as well as assisting with the development and administration of and training on credit policies and procedures. 
  • Make sound credit decisions within delegated authority and assist with management of regional credit committee
  • Coach, counsel and mentor credit analysts and lenders to maximize effectiveness and to best achieve Association objectives by reviewing proposed analysis and loan structure prior to credit submission.
  • Influence credit administration within the region through activities of the regional credit committee and work with the FSO’s and CSR’s to ensure credit administration is carried out at a satisfactory or better rating. 
  • Provide support and input to association management to help improve credit administration within the association.
  • Assist with CAMMS review process within the region.
  • Assist CCO and VP – Credit in developing association credit philosophy, policies, procedures, standards, goals and credit plan to ensure credit quality, credit administration and loan underwriting is consistent with association credit philosophy and business objectives.

 

Position Requirements...

 

  • This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Agricultural Business or a similar degree
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressively more responsible experience in credit underwriting or agricultural lending within a Farm Credit System institution or similar financial services organization
  • Demonstrated ability in real estate, chattel and unsecured lending and servicing procedures is required. 
  • In-depth knowledge and skills in loan administration, loan structuring, loan servicing and collateral valuations are necessary.
  • An awareness of prevailing economic trends and their impact on customers as well as knowledge of the agricultural food and fiber production chain including processing and marketing business cycles is needed. 
  • An awareness of the current regulatory environment affecting borrowers and an awareness of the legal and regulatory authorities granted to the Association to service these borrowers is required
  • The ability to influence others to achieve desired business results is essential
  • Strong administrative, leadership, analytical, negotiation and problem solving skills
  • Advanced level of proficiency with MS Excel is required
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with the remainder of the MS Office Suite
