Primary Responsibilities...

  • Review and verification of legal descriptions on new real estate transactions.
  • Review title commitments using independent judgment and analysis including but not limited to title coverage, title exemptions, any defects in the property, existing liens or encumbrances, appropriate access, reserved rights, other interests or claims and how they would affect a specific transaction.
  • Routine to moderate research in order to appropriately articulate the actions to be taken to ensure first lien.
  • Work with branch and Title Company, to work through routine and moderately complex issues.
  • Review real estate transaction draft closing documents to ensure accuracy as well as compliance with regulation, policy and procedures.
  • Verification for compliance requirements against loan approval.
  • Review of executed loan documents after closing to verify proper execution, adoption of any review comments and compliance with title requirements.
  • Final examination of mortgage loans to certify lien position in compliance with FCA regulation 615.5060.
  • Provide direct and indirect training by serving as a resource for operation and sales staff on loan transactions, policy and procedures.
  • Elevate errors/issues to the appropriate Legal Department leader.
  • Record work production.
  • Prepare necessary legal documents for new real estate loan transactions in accordance with the title commitment review and credit requirements along with policies and procedures, prior to closing.
  • Exercise independent judgement via review, research, analyze to determine what legal documents will be needed to accomplish servicing requests.
  • Prepare various legal documents with direction to staff as needed. Prepare legal document reviews with direction to branch staff based on transaction.
  • Provide resource services to various departments and team members as needed.
  • Additional related projects as assigned by supervisor.

 

Position Requirements...

  • Associates degree in Business, Paralegal Studies, or related studies required.
  • 5-10 years of experience working in an office environment relating to real estate, legal, or Title Company.
  • Understanding of Real Estate law and Title law.
  • Exceptional organizational and proofreading skills are required
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks as well as a proven self-starter
  • Working knowledge of mortgage and commercial loan documentation from origination through closing and disbursing; at least 1-2 years’ experience with final certification
