Dr. William Staats, a board-appointed director, has served on the board of directors since February 1997, and is the board's designated financial expert. His current term expires at the end of 2014. He chairs the bank's audit committee, serves on the bank's compensation committee and is vice chairman of the Farm Credit System Audit Committee.

Dr. Staats is a professor emeritus of finance at Louisiana State University (LSU), where he held the Louisiana Bankers Association Chair of Banking and the Hermann Moyse Jr. Distinguished Professorship. Prior to his retirement from LSU in June 2001, he was awarded an excellence in teaching award from the College of Business Administration.

Before joining LSU, Dr. Staats was vice president and corporate secretary of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. He serves on the boards of the Money Management International Financial Education Foundation, Money Management International, SevenOaks Capital Associates, LLC, and Lakeside Bank. He also is a member of the Texas Lutheran University Board of Regents.
