Successful Farming Radio Highlights Farm Credit Support for Beginning Farmers

For 100 years, Farm Credit has helped beginning farmers establish their agricultural businesses, and worked side-by-side with them to help those businesses flourish. These farmers and ranchers represent an important segment of our customer-owners, and we applaud their entrepreneurial spirit and appreciate their contributions to the agriculture sector.

Through our extensive experience working with this customer group, we’ve developed unmatched expertise in the unique challenges these beginning farmers face. Some of these challenges, along with recommendations for overcoming them, were highlighted at a special beginning farmers panel discussion in Washington, D.C. in June, which featured several Farm Credit customers.

Recently, Successful Farming Radio highlighted Farm Credit’s support for young and beginning farmers across a three-part series that featured Carl Horne, Young, Beginning and Small Program and Outreach Manager for Farm Credit Services of America and Frontier Farm Credit.

Carl points out that while opportunities are still available in agriculture, decisions need to be made carefully. Carl said, “Especially in economically challenging times, every decision matters, especially if you don’t have the financial maturity to be wrong.”

Farm Credit across the nation is there to help young and beginning farmers make the right decisions to build their businesses and the ag economy.
